Day 1 | Arrive and Hit the Bike Trails
Anxious to see the lay of the land? Head over to the Bike Barn, where over 300 bike rentals are ready and waiting for you! With over 40 miles of paved trails, you’ll find yourself cruising for hours – the perfect way to stretch out those legs after your journey to Sunriver.

Day 2 | Family Fun - Gray's Trail Putting Course and Sunriver Stables
Gray’s Trail is an 18-Hole putting course located behind the Lodge at Sunriver Resort. Bordered by the Little Sun River, Great Meadow, and Meadows golf course, Gray’s Trail is named after Sunriver Resort visionary John Gray. The exciting 18-hole trail features a bentgrass putting surface with 18 individual holes that can be reimagined anytime. Gray’s Trail provides fun and challenge for every level of golfer.
For the afternoon, head down to Sunriver Stables. Whether you have plenty of experience or none at all, enjoy exploring Sunriver Resort on a horseback adventure! For those aged seven years and older, set out on the trail horseback for a one-hour guided trail ride. The spirit of the West begins to soak in and brings to mind years gone by. You experience nature as never before as you and your horse mosey through the Great Meadow, blooming with wildflowers and native vegetation, along the forest and into the forest among the mighty Ponderosa Pines. Check out our pony rides for those with children who are two years old and weigh 60 lbs. or less—saddle up for a journey that will be the start of unforgettable.
Day 3 | Splash Around
Today, you’re going to get wet! Sunriver Resort offers a 6-mile float (2-3 hours depending on the vessel) out of the Marina. Choose from a canoe, kayak or standup paddleboard and float down the Deschutes River among islands of tall grasses, past the horses, and you might even see a bald eagle! And yes, your furry friend is welcome on the vessel, too. Find everything you need in preparation to make a splash at the Marina Shop – sunscreen, water bags, swimsuits, etc.
As an alternative plan, The Cove Aquatic Center features a zero-entry pool and hot tub, private cabanas, a waterslide, nature walk and discovery area, lakeside trails and a spacious deck and lawn. The kids can play while you sip on a poolside beverage. Head over to The Spotted Frog Café for delicious lunchtime or early evening fare while enjoying the sunshine. Pool reservations can be made online before you arrive.
Keep those kiddos awake after dinner, because it’s time to seek the stars at the nation’s largest publicly accessible observatory, right here in Sunriver! This NASA-sponsored outlet will include a one-hour session night sky viewing through various telescopes with staff astronomers, a guided constellation tour, meteorite displays, and an educational presentation.
