Day 1: Bike Lush Trails & Play Our Putting Course
Arrive and let the summer fun begin. First up? Head over to the Bike Barn and gear up for a truly unforgettable outing. With over 40 miles of scenic, paved trails, even the kiddos will be cruising for hours – the perfect way to stretch out those legs after your journey to Sunriver. Seeking a little more activity? Discover Gray's Trail together, an all-levels 18-hole putting course located behind the Lodge. After some friendly competition on the greens, refuel at Backyard Bar & Cafe with hearty salads, sandwiches, wraps, and refreshments – you earned it.
Day 2: Discover the Sunriver Nature Center
The best days start with a big breakfast. Load up at Lodge Kitchen with savory and sweet dishes, from Blueberry Pancakes to Biscuits & Gravy, Smoked Salmon Hash, and more. After, bike to the Nature Center, where a team of naturalists are eager to introduce you to endless nature activities. Find snakes, lizards, frogs, and salamanders within the dark corners of the Creature Cave. Play, build, and explore nature at Exploration Ridge. Visit live owls, hawks, and an eagle and learn about their stories of rehabilitation. Wildlife watch from the shore of Lake Aspen. Stroll the botanical garden. After a full day of learning and exploring, wind down by enjoying delicious food, local brews, and live music in the Backyard – available from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm all summer long.
Day 3: Hike by Day, Stargaze by Night
It’s time to explore. Located a short drive from the property is Benhem Falls, a striking sight surrounded by dense pine forests with views of the Cascade Mountains – and it all can be reached via a family-friendly hike on the Deschutes Trail. After working up an appetite, sit down at Zeppa Bistro for brick-oven pizza beside Obsidian Lake and Mt. Bachelor views. After dinner, surprise the kiddos with stargazing at the nation’s largest publicly accessible observatory, right here in Sunriver! This NASA-sponsored venue includes a one-hour session of night sky viewing through various telescopes with staff astronomers, a guided constellation tour, meteorite displays, and more. Day 4: Saddle Up at Sunriver Stables
A breathtaking horseback ride through Sunriver Resort is an adventure the family won’t soon forget. Bring your crew – aged seven years and older – to Sunriver Stables and set out on a one-hour guided trail ride. Embrace the spirit of the West and mosey through the Great Meadow, blooming with wildflowers and native vegetation, and into a forest of Ponderosa Pines. And for the littles ones aged two and weighing 60 lbs. or less? Don’t miss out on our pony rides. End the day by recounting favorite ride moments at the Owl's Nest, where classic dishes are served up with a modern twist, alongside homespun cocktails, craft beers and Pacific Northwest wines.
Day 5: Float Down the Deschutes
Bring the whole family (furry friends included!) for a 6-mile float out of the Marina by canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Along the way, enjoy the picturesque views of grassy islands, horses, and – if you’re lucky – a beautiful bald eagle. All the water adventures are sure to work up an appetite. Fill up with favorite Mexican-style foods at the Marina’s Peak Food Truck – Churro Bites, anyone? Ideal for ages six and older, The Big Eddy Thriller allows for 1.5 hours on the water, covering three river miles through high desert scenery, old growth forest, and lava rock formations.
Day 6: Make a Splash at The Cove
What’s summertime without pool time? Suit up and head to Sunriver Resort’s Cove Aquatic Center for endless water fun. With an indoor and outdoor pool with waterslides, jetted spas, private outdoor cabanas, a gently flowing eddy, and more, The Cove will keep your family entertained all day long. Let the kids splash around to their heart's content while you sit back and soak up the sunshine. Or, race down the waterslides together. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, The Spotted Frog is ready to serve your family with delicious poolside fare – from burgers and hot dogs to salads and small bites.
Day 7: Find Takota Bear & Shop Gifts
Have you spotted Takoda Bear, yet? There are six Takoda Bears – Sunriver Resort's friendly mascot – across the resort participating in some of his favorite activities. Your challenge is to find all six and tell us what activities Takoda is doing. If you get them all correct, you win a sweet treat from the Merchant Trader. If you participated in the scavenger hunt, today is the day to head to the Merchant Trader and trade in your answers for a sweet treat. While you’re there, don’t forget to get some shopping in. A beautiful assortment of memorable gifts, Sunriver Resort sweatshirts, t-shirts, and more await. Now, there’s only one more thing to do.
